Stream Discovery is now in Vak Signals
Vak Signals can now discover recurring, previously unknown creatives from live and recorded feeds, then route confirmed detections into your workflow.
Most recognition workflows begin with a catalog: you know the media you care about, add it to the workspace, then look for it in the world.
But live media rarely stays that tidy. A new creative appears in a broadcast feed. A variant starts running before it reaches the reference catalog. Someone needs to notice it, identify that it is recurring, and decide what it is before it can be monitored like everything else.
That is why Stream Discovery is now in Vak Signals.
Turn an unknown recurring stream segment into a governed creative. Use Stream Discovery to surface candidates, review them, and route confirmed detections into your workflow.

Stream Discovery watches live and recorded feeds for repeated audio that is not yet part of a known catalog. It fingerprints rolling stream windows, finds recurring chains, and groups the evidence into a creative candidate rather than asking a person to inspect every second of media.
The service is designed to run close to the stream, on a VM, and supports HTTP(S), HLS, UDP/RTP MPEG-TS, RTSP, and file inputs. FFmpeg handles transport and codec details while the shared ACR engine produces the canonical fingerprints.
Review stays in the loop
Discovery is not a shortcut around judgment. A recurring segment becomes a candidate first. Your team can inspect it, approve it as a creative, or reject it with a note. Only approved candidates are promoted into confirmed creatives.
This is particularly useful when a campaign has several edits or starts airing before the media team has finalized its catalog. The system finds the repetition; the team decides what the signal means.
Confirmed detections can trigger work
Once a creative is confirmed, Stream Discovery records its occurrences and can emit
creative.started and creative.ended metadata events to a webhook. That lets a detection
move into the rest of your stack: monitoring, reporting, verification, or a workflow that
needs to know when a confirmed creative begins and ends.
Clips and manifests can be retained according to the feed policy, while webhook delivery stays metadata-only. It is a practical boundary for teams that need evidence and traceability without indiscriminately moving stream media around.
Discovery complements the catalog
Vak Signals still gives teams a controlled home for approved media: catalogs, labels, releases and recognition modes for the environments where their products run. Stream Discovery adds the missing front door for material that has not been catalogued yet.
The workflow is simple: watch a stream, surface recurring candidates, review the evidence, promote the real creative, and use confirmed occurrences wherever they matter next.
